Admittedly, this site went up in 2014 to coincide with the “promotion” of 1914 that the “Watchtower Society” was attempting to make during 2014. Here, we pretended this was the “END TIMES” for 1914 as a major doctrine: the “end of an era” and the “end of an error.” Deep down we all knew that it was not really going to be the total end of emphasis on 1914. And no one appeared to take that idea seriously anyway. But it was still our attempt to help “1914” lose a bit of its shine. To remind Witnesses that the whole idea of chronology gets old after a while.
We will likely find a place to keep most of the old original “2014” content. But our new goal is to add content that goes beyond 1914, and creates a more serious reference for those interested in the entire set of related doctrines associated with Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Watchtower Society.
To that end we will make more use of the permission we originally received from contributors to this site including Carl Olof Jonsson, Doug Mason, Alan Feuerbacher, Max Hatton, Jim Penton, and the owner of sites like “JW Facts” and posters like “Ann Omaly” and “JW Insider” Therefore we will even try to include content and comments posted elsewhere from brave Jehovah’s Witnesses themselves who have allowed their posted content from elsewhere to be shared freely. We will also be looking to get permission from others who have done a lot of research in the area of JW/WT history and chronology. (Jeffro77, Greg Stafford, etc.)
Of course, we won’t be aware of all the great resources, from JWs, ex-JWs, non-JWs and we hope that others will point them out for us. If we can’t get a response from these potential resources, we might at least point to their content. If something is only available on “web.archive.com” {the “wayback machine”) we might still be able to post it.
The idea for this site was initiated by Barbara Anderson, who has dealt with JW issues, practices and doctrines usually not directly related to chronology. Although her work on the history of the Watchtower, especially early history (Russell, Rutherford, etc.) is a worthwhile addition to the overall topic. For that reason this site will also be making use of more connectivity with Barbara’s Watchtower Documents site.
